The island is only 3 km. away from the main land.
There are four villages with the population of 2500 people in 4 villages.
Most of them are islam. In the past, The island was abundant with wild boars. That was the name of "Sukorn", which means pig. The main occupations are fishery, cultivation and growing rubber plantations. Koh Sukorn is usually a place to stop by if the tourist to go cruise to the nearby wonderfull islands. Koh Sukorn is a quiet and an authentic Andaman island.

There are two ports on the island. Koh Sukorn is also well-know for watermelon, which are plwnty  during March to April.
